With Awareness is dedicated to providing counseling and support services for birthing mothers, their partners and growing families in mid Missouri. You will find mindfulness based yoga and support classes, childbirth education, and counseling for reproductive and postpartum health.
For my clients, birth plans have been a great tool for beginning a conversation about birth preferences and priorities. You can use your birth plan as a guide for asking open ended questions, to find out about your care provider’s birth philosophy, and what kinds of protocols your care provider is bound by in their practice. These can be important things to know, and a birth plan is perfect for opening up the conversation and getting a feel for how your care provider will be during your birth.
Birth plans are also great for the birthing room. Typically, if you are birthing in the hospital, you will most likely not be attended by the physician you’ve chosen, but by a physician that rotates on-call with your physician. Having a birth plan in your file is helpful for the on call physician and for the nurses who are on staff during your birth.
